Should you be expecting something in this space?

Short updates. Not doing good in Welly, heaps of assignments to be done, still struggling with Paediatrics, the todo list is getting longer and longer.

Highlights of these few months: found out there’s another good reason to be in the medical field, you get to listen many stories, may it be the cruel one or the touching one.

Craps enough. Back to paediatrics.

Yesterday, 20th September, was my dad’s birthday. It must be the influence of the recent TVB series, Moonlight Resonance, I have the strong feeling about ‘FAMILY’. Seriously, sometimes, I do think my dad is just like ‘Joe Bar’. My dad has been working really hard for his life and he has experienced much rise and fall. One must be wondering, why is he working so hard? I used to think that my family is just another typical Chinese family, working hard, earning money just for the future. Well, future keeps changing and money is never enough for anyone. Until one recent day, I know I was wrong.

It was one of the days, while we were ’skype’-ing, my mom suggested to travel by end of the year, as it would be one of those days that ‘everyone’ would be home. Yes, ‘everyone’. For a Chinese family, nothing is more important than the family. And for the parents, nothing is more important than their children. My dad didn’t say anything, not after a while, he said that he might have to work… blah blah blah… and asked us to travel instead. While he was away, mom told me that dad actually was thinking to work harder, to have enough money to pay for our education, and for us to spend. What? Did I listen it wrong? For us to spend?! At that moment, I have the feeling of guilt. Have I been draining much from the family finance? Seriously, it got me to think, he has been working most of the time…. And now, I think it’s time for him to relax and have some sweet time with my mom… And he refused to go, just to save some money for us to spend.

Since then, I know, my dad is the greatest dad in the world, ever. I am proud of you, for whatever you have done for us. Happy Birthday, daddy

Spring comes.

Hooray~ I guess whoever currently living in the south hemisphere is enjoying the sunshine, warm temperature. Even though the temp in Welly is… 9 degrees… But hey, it’s still better than the blardy freezing winter, isn’t it?

As you might realize, as the owner of the blog adapted to the kiwi-culture (being *slightly* laid-back), the blog has also been *hibernating* for almost a season! Blame the weather! Blame the weather!

Looking back, I guess I have not been talking about my studies, which *might be* a concern for *quite a few* people… Well, I have gone through the surgery run, in which we were posted to a surgical team for 2 weeks, ENT/Eyes departments for 2 weeks, Anaesthesia for 2 weeks and ED/Acute Pain Control/ICU/Ambulance for another 2 weeks. There are really inspiring, seriously, even though it kinds of *signalling* me that surgeons *were not that cool* overall Ah, it just… different from Grey’s Anatomy Instead, anaesthesia is really fun. We got to do some bag masking, drawing medications and intubating. Siaw, you are right, anaesthetist is much cooler than surgeons

And now, I am doing “General Practice” run. The thinking, the lifestyle and even the dreams of docs chasing after are so different from those in hospital level. People tended to think that GP is *slacker* as they *can’t do much*… WRONG PERCEPTION! GP is the first doc you come in contact, no matter what disease or illness. And GP is not slack at all, it’s all about the relationships with the patients! They might not be the riches in the field of Medicine, but they are definitely the one with LIFE and FREEDOM! Can you believe that you can work 6 half days rather than working days and nights in hospital? However, it DOES depend on where you practice thou’. In NZ (probably Aussie), GP doesn’t need to be ready for 24 hours, as NZ has a system called ‘afterhour clinic’ where all the GP in that region will rotate to work in the clinic for 4/8 hours every month! Besides the attachment, we got to learn Chronic Care Management and Addiction Medicine (we can only go Alcoholic Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous… but I wanted to go Gambling Addiction I think it’s more relevant to me – btw, I miss MahJong! Can’t wait Chinese New Year to come )

Okie dokie, this is a brief and short update…

*I am trying to keep the blog alive!*

I have dumped you for no reason… Being lazy is not a good excuse, and I made promises that I would keep you alive… Apparently I failed to do so.

Well, after a blardy short chat with huilin, I realized that I have eventually, detached from most of the contacts. I am sorry… I was busy for once but maybe I should just update a little bit more often… Just few lines will do I guess.

See? How easy to publish a post like this? Quantity or Quality matters?

It might be weird But after I know about it, I am freaking happy!

OMG! Seriously, my current Sony Ericsson cost me NZD 399… which is not that bad. I am going to sell it online, and got that money to buy this!

So, anyone want to donate to this little soul for his ‘greediness’?

PS: I know I know, there is much to be blogged, and I just being lazy to blog about them… But hey, you just couldn’t resist the apple’s temptation, right?

Listening to: Dear Friends (FFV) from the Final Fantasy Concert

Today is one of my best friends birthday. His name is SeongLim. We became very very close since From 3, and all because of this game, Final Fantasy. We soon became friends that talk about anything, and we are still able to crap for a whole day even after I went to IMU. Happy birthday, my dear friend. It’s shock and sad to hear that you plan to go to UK, it’s so out of sudden. I understand that you want those experience, those experience that everyone has nowadays. But I felt a little bit sad, sad that I could not meet you anymore in the near future… maybe not even within these 5 years.

I was alright after wishing him birthday through Skype. I was fine after replying Kherdee and HuiLin. What makes my emotion surge is Prasad’s latest entry. I know, it’s April now, May in a week time. Time flies. I have been here for almost 4 months and people always ask me whether I get used to here. I always answer, ‘It’s the same for everywhere, it’s kind of like adapting to the place… and that’s it.’ But if you ask me whether I miss Malaysia or not, Yes I do. I miss my family, I miss the ‘family’, and I miss the food. It’s about time for everyone persuade their study in different locations of the world, and if you think about it, I don’t really see when can we gather together. It’s gonna be harder and harder when everyone starts his/her job.

Like Prasad mentioned in his blog, I think my phase 1 is awesome. I like my Phase 1 studies, and I am glad that I have a bunch of friends who cares about each others. Thanks.

PS: I have a crazy plan… but it is only feasible when everyone has gone for their PMS…

After 3 months, we finally get out from the Wellington City! The first journey of NZ – Kapiti Coast. For your information, Kapiti Coast is also known as the nature coast, where it is considered one of the nature reserve in NZ.

The first stop is Titahi Beach, somewhere near to the Porirua, another town near to the Wellington City. Sad to say, it wasn’t a good weather (as you can see from the photo) but nothing can stop us! wahahaha~

Queen Elizabeth Park was used for the battlefield in Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King. As I am not a big fan of LOTR, I was told it’s the battlefield outside the Minas Tirith… And we got to see some milk cows, like those in the Fern-leaf advertisement… then we realised we never see ‘Fern-Leaf’ milk here! (And Liana said the advertisement was shot in Terengganu… Slack!)

My lunch! It is NZD 13.50 and it is really good! The seafood is fresh, good atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and the joyful mood~

We went up to ‘one of the hill’ (apparently I forgot what it’s called) and I was freezing! We had to make up the smile, took the photo quickly and ran back to the car! Anyway, according to Renesh, if the weather was better, we actually could see the south island!

Before we got to Lindale, we visited the chocolate factory (well, they said the Cabury Chocolate factory in South Island is much bigger) and we tried one choc called ‘spicy chilly’ (which taste like pepper more than chilly). In Lindale, we had the award-winning Kapiti Ice-cream… Yummy~

Personally, I don’t really know ‘Cars’ but this museum is just… awesome! It’s full of cars with all sort of funky shapes and designs… And this is the cutest car I seen… And surprisingly, I found one Volkswagen that you still can see them running on Malaysia highways~

This is the nearest beach to ‘see’ the Kapiti Island, which you need a permit to aboard to the island… to see birds and play some water sports. It is also the island used in King Kong movie.

Holiday is gonna end soon Gambate!

Last Sunday, Juliana, Liana and me went to ‘Botanic Garden’ in the centre of the city. ‘Garden’ wasn’t my kind of place, but maybe I have been locked in the room too long… A little bit of green made my day bright~

This is where we took off from the Cable Car (something like those you sit in Penang) which is claimed to be one of those ‘must ride’ in Wellington. Look at the sky, this is one of those good day you die to go out to have sunshine after few days of gloomy and raining days~

We picked a place and had our little picnic After ‘comforting’ our tummies, it’s photo session! Look at Liana’s face… wanted to named it as the ‘Pau’-face, as the organs are all squeezed in the middle

Juliana: ‘Where? Where?’

Method: Stand according to the month and day, then face away the sun, put hands on top of the head, then the shadow will tell you what is the current time.

On the way back, there is this ‘weird’ tree/plant growing in circular shape, and it’s humongous!
