Web Feed

This is the Web2.0 era and we are talking about information technology here. (Sounds big, huh?) Normally, as most of the people do, they frequently visit the same sites everyday, just to check for updates, a good example will be your friends blog and bittorent search results. So, when you were doing so, have you ever think of any method could make it easier for you? Thus, web feed eliminate all this troublesome work for you!

Adapt from wikipedia, “A web feed is a data format used for serving users frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation.”

So how do we use it overall? First of all, you need a feed reader, may it be offline or online. Examples are iGoogle, MSN Live, Yahoo!, Netvibes (the one I’m using), Firefox built-in Live Bookmarks, etc. Then, go to the website and look for feed, it could be in the format of rss, atom, anything! Look for the symbol and copy/click the link, load them in your feed reader, done! Next time, you will be the first to know who has updated and who has not.
